BBQ, Brewski and Music Texas style!

Angie and I barely had time for our coffee today. We have been caught up in all the excitement about a new event coming to town.

Conroe is such a great destination for a Memorial Day weekend getaway. If you ask any local they will tell you, the weather is just right for getting together outdoors with your friends and family for barbeque cookoffs, a day at the lake and great Texas music. That is why we are thrilled with the possibility of a huge BBQ, Beer and Music festival becoming Conroe's new signature spring event. We have been working with the organizers of Brew B Que, an event that began in Buda, Texas in 2009, to bring it to Conroe. This festival has been very popular in Buda, attracting over 5,000 attendees and featuring headliners such as Texas Country Artist Cory Morrow. Because of its size, organizers feel that it has outgrown the small suburb of Austin and feel very positive about relocating to Conroe, where it can continue to thrive and grow.

Stay tuned for more Brew B Que and other things to do.

Time to go refill my coffee.

Let's talk about this lake...

For those of you that have not yet made it out to visit our city, we are home to the beautiful 22,000 acre Lake Conroe which is very popular to anglers around the world. In fact, we just got word that the ever-popular Toyota Texas Bass Classic, the world championship of professional bass fishing and country music festival, has become an annual community event, returning in 2012 for the 4th year in a row.

If you are familiar with the area, you might be wondering... why would they be returning to an area where the water level in the lake has become so low due to the drought? (If you are not aware of Conroe's recent weather conditions, we have had a very dry period which has caused our lake level to be abnormally low.)

According to Larry J. LeBlanc, executive director of the Texas Outdoor Writers Association, fishing is actually great in Lake Conroe right now. The fish are biting and our marinas are gearing up for many big bass fishing tournaments this year, with the first big tournament of the year starting in February at Stow-A-Way Marina.

Not into fishing? There is so much more to do on the lake and around town. Stay tuned for more cream, sugar and a touch of coffee with Traci and Angie.
